For KYOCERA AVX Corporation we are looking for a Environmental Health and Safety Specialist (EHS) at our location in Erie
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The primary focus for this position is to ensure that the manufacturing facility complies with all applicable environmental, health and safety regulations. Manage and coordinate the operation of the document control system to ensure the functionality meets the EHS regulations, ISO 14001 EMS and SMS requirements.
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
- Assist with ISO 14001 EMS, ISO 45001 SMS, and EHSS internal auditing.
- Ensure site compliance with state, local and federal EHSS regulations along with related management systems.
- Lead and participate in on site safety/environmental/security teams.
- Lead efforts to create and sustain a safe, healthy, and organized working environment for all areas of the facility.
- Remain current in changing environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Manage key EHSS projects and programs.
- Provide thorough and timely follow-up to site incidents and insure appropriate action item completion.
- Assist facilities management in development and implementation of the EHSS action plan.
- Follow proper procedures regarding safety, chemical and hazardous waste handling.
- Prepare and conduct safety and environmental training programs and ensure proper records are kept.
- Assist process of problem solving.
- Drives administrative and other controls to eliminate hazards in the facility to create a zero-incident workplace.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance EHSS.
- Conduct hazard and safety assessments and prepare appropriate documentation.
- Communicates and reports on all aspects of plant environmental, safety and health issues.
- Interact with KAVX Management, legal, and regulatory agencies as needed relating to environment, health, and safety and any compliance related topics.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- May handle hazardous waste.
- BS Degree is required with a 1-year minimum related experience at a manufacturing facility.
- RCRA, DOT, OSHA, First Aid/CPR training preferred.
- Ability to prioritize, manage time well, multi-task and troubleshoot.
- Candidate must be self-directed, detail-oriented, manage confidential information and be able to work independently, while being highly motivated.
- Ability to stay focused in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, and carry out tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ability to effectively communicate ideas and knowledge to appropriate levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of environmental, health, safety and security regulations.
