Primary Function:

KYOCERA AVX’s Sensing & Control Division is a leading innovator in advanced sensor technology and power electronics solutions, delivering high-performance components to OEMs in the commercial truck, agriculture, and power sports industries. We are seeking a dynamic Technical Sales Manager to drive growth, build strong client relationships, and deliver tailored solutions to meet the unique needs of our customers.

Reporting to the Director of Sales, Americas, the Technical Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales of cutting-edge sensors and power electronics to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the commercial truck, agriculture, and power sports sectors (not exclusively, but focused on mentioned sectors). This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic sales acumen, and a customer-centric approach to identify opportunities, develop solutions, and close deals. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the target industries, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in technical B2B sales

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets for sensor and power electronics products within assigned markets. 
  • Customer Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, understanding their technical requirements and aligning solutions to meet their needs.
  • Technical Expertise: Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to translate customer needs into customized solutions, providing technical support during the sales process. 
  • Market Analysis: Identify new business opportunities, monitor industry trends, and analyze competitor activities to position the company’s products effectively.
  • Proposal Development: Prepare and present compelling proposals, technical presentations, and demonstrations to showcase product benefits and value propositions.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead contract negotiations, ensuring favorable terms while maintaining strong customer relationships. 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, product management, and R&D teams to align product offerings with market demands. 
  • Forecasting & Reporting: Provide accurate sales forecasts, track performance metrics, and report on sales activities and outcomes to leadership. 
  • Industry Events: Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and industry events to generate leads and enhance brand visibility.
  • Customer Support: Act as the primary point of contact for post-sale support, ensuring customer satisfaction and fostering long-term partnerships.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree is required, Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • 3+ years of technical sales experience, preferably selling sensors, power electronics, or related components to OEMs. 
  • Proven success in B2B sales within the commercial truck, agriculture, or power sports industries. 
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of sensor technology (e.g., position, pressure, temperature sensors) and power electronics (e.g., inverters, converters, battery management systems).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.  Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills. 
  • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the commercial truck, agriculture, or power sports markets, including regulatory standards and OEM development cycles. 
  • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 50% to meet with customers, attend industry events, and visit company facilities. 
  • Attributes: Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.

 Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience working with Tier 1 or Tier 2 suppliers in the automotive or heavy equipment industries.  
  • Established network of contacts within target industries.
