Primary Function

This is a paid summer intern position, with housing assistance provided in the Greenville, SC, area, as needed.   The position will be responsible for assembling and testing manufactured electronic products starting at the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase supporting the engineering team.  Run engineering tests and experiments; collects data; reports results.

This is a highly technical, detail-oriented position, requiring extensive familiarity with circuit boards and electronic components as well as soldering and other methods of assembling electronics securely so they work as expected.

Duties & Responsibilities

·         Plan, run and test experiments as requested by management/engineering

·         Run equipment as necessary in the engineering lab to support development of products and/or trouble shooting existing designs

·         Collect and summarize data for the engineering team

·         Write memos, technical reports and process specification revisions

·         Solders and de-solders components / parts from the product at times will be required to assemble the final product or component

Preferred Qualifications

·         Requires actively working towards a two-year or 4-year degree in electronics technology or equivalent

·         Ability to read and comprehend test procedures and schematics

·         Ability to recognize problems and perform troubleshooting steps to help identify manufacturing, design and/or testing defects

·         Ability to complete intermediate mathematical problems and know how to read measuring devices to perform required assembly tasks

·         Hands on ability to solder and de-solder components on PCB

·         Must have intermediate computer skills to work within Microsoft product suites and other computer software applications
