PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Operations Manager will directly supervise international facilities and be responsible for holding the staff at each plant accountable to achieve cost effective, high quality and on-time manufacturing of products. You will be involved in material procurement, customer order planning/scheduling, product manufacturing, new product development, cost reduction initiatives and shipping.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform Financial/Operational management of the group to include: Monitoring and exceeding forecasted profit levels, developing an annual operations master plan, maintain monthly shipments, Profit/ Variance objectives and provide service and quality to customers.
  • Directly oversee and provide leadership to numerous department managers, who in practice report solely to the local plant manager on all principal matters, both technical and administrative in nature. These include: Product Manufacturing, New Product Development, Purchasing, Production Control, Shipping, Facility Management, Quality and Process Engineering.
  • Provide direction to local site purchasing personnel to develop and maintain a vendor base that provides product and quality consistent with objectives.
  • Must manage complex projects and bring them to completion on time and within budget and present results to upper management.
  • Implements remedial actions to address impasses or interferences in the production line and sets up preventive measures to lessen repetition of actions.
  • Provides leadership on common goals affecting manufacturing and engineering in regards to product development and makes available to subordinate department managers the insight, resources, time, budgetary resources to improve operations, and further their plans and pragmatic ideas.
  • Anticipates trends and tendencies of the principal operations throughout the plant, and advises plant manager of difficulties likely to develop and provides alternative courses of action.
  • Makes available to subordinate mangers realistic and achievable standards, and assumes the delegated responsibility for the accomplished work of all their activities within the realm of reasonable expectations.
  • Works with Sales/ Marketing/ Demand Planning to react to customer changes/ request with delivery schedules and product/process revisions.
  • Plans facility upgrades to achieve manufacturing efficiencies, accomplishes new product/process introductions and satisfies safety and environmental requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Engineering with an MBA preferred. 
  • Proven experience in the manufacturing and/or engineering of small parts in a high volume.
  • Must have experience with sophisticated electronic components, and business activity. 
  • Must have a strong operational and technical background. 
  • A self-starter who does not require daily follow up and can gain the respect of experienced managers.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels and the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Must maintain a daily working relationship with senior management.
  • Must possess an in-depth working knowledge of electronic components.
  • Ability to use personal computers programs.
  • Ability to travel at least 50% of the time.
