Primary Function

Provide advanced-level quality engineering support to the manufacturing team to improve quality and reliability of products. Will participate in a variety of activities that include direct interaction with suppliers, customers, and other Kyocera-AVX R&D and Production Facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages processes and procedures related to quality assurance of KYOCERA AVX products manufactured within the plant. 

  • Effectively implement industry, customer, and company requirements into the plants quality management system. 

  • Improve quality performance using process controls, product inspection, data analysis, and problem-solving tools.  

  • Perform failure analysis and process investigation to determine the root cause of problems.  

  • Provide corrective action reports to close issues with internal and external customers.       

  • Support the plant Quality Management System and compliance to ISO-9001, ISO/TS-16949, AS9100, MIL-STD- 790 standards.  

  • Travel to other KAVX locations, suppliers, and customers as needed.  

  • Identify process problems and initiate corrective action. 

  • Initiate programs to reduce cost and improve quality and reliability. 

  • Individually establish site quality KPIs, metrics, and objectives and reviews with Supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Management requiredMBA or other advanced degree preferred. 

  • 10 plus years of industry experience in Quality that may include experience in Operations or equivalent function; Quality experience must be at the exempt level. 

  • ISO9001 certified manufacturing experience required, and Aerospace (AS9001) and/or Military (MIL-STD-790) industry experience preferred. 

  • Product, process, and equipment qualification experience preferred. 

  • Proficiency in electronic component manufacturing processes, technologies, or other relevant areas of responsibility.  

  • Demonstrated experience using a full range of continuous improvement tools and fundamentals to drive results; strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Able to document expertise in design & execution of Quality/technical work.  

  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office and other similar software applications  

  • Excellent writing, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). 

  • Knowledge of international cultures and customs to facilitate effectiveness of quality initiatives is a plus. 

  • Occasional travel may be required but should not exceed 5-10%. 

  • Ability to work non-standard hours as needed, based on the needs of manufacturing and customers, either due to product/process launch or issue escalations.
